🎄Description:
This course will emphasize the importance of Professionalism and Ethics which govern one’s behavior in a professional environment. Ethics asks the fundamental questions of what it is to be a professional and what is proper conduct and decision making in your dental hygiene practice. It also allows for one to delve into investigating the difficult issues/questions which may challenge dental hygienists as well as those issues which affect society. Participants will have the opportunity to explore, evaluate and/or appreciate the vital components of being a proficient member in the profession of dental hygiene.

-Determine the need to increase ethical consciousness and responsibility
-Institute a standard for professional judgment and conduct
-Recognize ethical issues and choices to guide in making informed decisions

Dr. Melchor is full Professor and the Director of Community Outreach at the UTHealth School of Dentistry (UTSD), University of Texas Health Science at Houston. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from The University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston-Dental Branch. The degree of “Master of Education” and the degree of “Doctor of Education” were obtained from The University of Houston.
