**TDHA MEMBER SPOTLIGHT**

Amber Lovatos currently serves as President of Greater Houston Dental Hygienists’ Association. She understands it takes leadership and professional membership to improve our communities. She has held many positions from the local level all the way to the national level. Some of the positions being; GHDHA Community Outreach Chair and delegate, TDHA Trustee, District IX delegate, and CE speaker for many organizations including at 2019 ADHA Annual Conference in Louisville Kentucky!
She has transformed the involvement and impact Greater Houston has on the community. Her passion to serve underprivileged communities is demonstrated through her volunteer community service hours (over 311 hours!!) and organization of 46 community service events. She established monthly donation drives for organizations such as Toys for Tots and Kids Meals Inc which benefits the underprivileged population in Houston. She considers the care of others before herself. Her distinctive feature to eagerly transfer her knowledge and skills with her peers and community displays qualities of a quintessential team player’s ability to inspire others. Amber also has an impact on the student level, the future of dental hygiene. She is a professor and second-year clinic coordinator at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston. In 2019, the students honored her with the Lorna J. Bruning Award for Clinical Teaching Excellence. Amber has a genuine heart in advancing and promotion our profession can be seen on local, state, and national level. She continually inspires her students and colleagues to be leaders in our association to advocate for our profession and to serve our community.
