Suzy Bio

 

Suzy Stevens is a graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She has been a practicing hygienist since 2000.  She has been a very proud active member of the Greater Houston Dental Hygienists’ Society since 2000.  She has held many positions in her local component:  Historian, 2nd Vice President, 1st Vice President, Trustee, and currently is the Publications Chair as well as President. She is also ADHA’s Smoking Cessation Initiative Liaison for the State of Texas.  She has received The Achievement in Outstanding Practice Impact Award from the Smoking Cessation Leadership Center for her work with the ADHA Smoking Cessation Initiative.  She has also volunteered her time at Sealants Across Texas for several years.  She currently works for a Periodontist in Sugar Land, TX.  She lives in Sugar Land, TX.  Is married to a wonderful husband and has a 5 year old daughter.

 

Suzy states that Building Bridges is what she will be doing during her presidency.  “I want to build a bridge to further strengthen the Smoking Cessation Initiative by educating as many hygienists and hygiene students as possible to promote smoking cessation to their patients.  I want to build a bridge to strengthen the ties between us and the Dental Society so that we can work closely with them on projects.  I want to build a bridge to strengthen the ties with the Hygiene students to motivate them to want to join and be a part of our organization and become active members. I will accomplish all this with the foundation and support of this society which is the Board that I will be working with.  We have a long road ahead of us and building bridges will help us get there.”
