In 1978, the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Association voted to support the formation of the Texas Dental Hygienists’ Political Action Committee…. Tex Hy-PAC. Its purpose is to encourage Dental Hygienists and other interested persons to inform legislators of current dental hygiene issues. Tex Hy-PAC is a voluntary, non-profit committee, which supports the goals of TDHA, but operates independently and autonomously.
 

Tex Hy-PAC is not affiliated with any one political party but supports individual candidates who have demonstrated an interest in excellence in dental hygiene. Tex Hy-PAC provides support to those candidates and works to persuade other candidates to hear the voice of the dental hygiene profession. As you all know, TDHA has recently utilized Hy-PAC funds for the 2005 legislative process. It is imperative that we start rebuilding those funds for future legislative campaigns. We need your support. I would like to urge all GHDHS members to make your annual contribution to Tex Hy-PAC if you haven’t already done so. If you have, encourage two non-member hygienists to contribute to Tex Hy-PAC.   Bring those PAC checks to the September meeting or mail them directly to Tex Hy-PAC, address below.  In a perfect world, Texas could meet its goal yearly if each member would donate $20 annually. Unfortunately, this burden tends to fall on many of the same RDH’s monthly. Please everyone, do your part to preserve education for dental hygienists and mail your annual donation!
